Recommended Reads
At Harwood Meadows, reading is a top priority and is a key driver for our curriculum. It is our intention to ensure that, by the end of their primary education, all pupils are able to read fluently and with confidence, to prepare them for their forthcoming secondary education.
We are developing a whole school reading culture to encourage all pupils to read widely across both fiction and non-fiction to develop knowledge of themselves and the world in which they live; establish an appreciation and love of reading; gain knowledge across the curriculum; and develop their comprehension skills. We are committed to providing vocabulary rich reading material to challenge children in every year group.
As part of our ongoing commitment to developing a love of reading in school and at home, we have put together a list of recommended reads for each year group. These suggestions would be ideal gifts for your children and will help to develop the love of reading to which we aspire.
