Although children of all ages often watch YouTube content directly via the website or main YouTube app, YouTube itself states that the only place children should be watching its videos is in the YouTube Kids app.
However, recently, there has been a growing concern with the content that children are exposed to on YouTube Kids.
In this guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as targeted advertising, viewing time and inappropriate videos.
For Maths Week England we want to make maths exciting and high profile in our school. We will be taking part in a friendly competition involving schools from England from Monday 8th November to Thursday 11th November. It’s all done online via play.ttrockstars.com.
For every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, your child will earn their class a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours, subject to a daily 60-minute limit (see below)). Winning classes in the school and in the competition as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.
All game modes (Gig, Garage, Studio, etc.) will count but only from games played between 7:30AM GMT and 7:30PM GMT on Monday 8th, Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th. To support player wellbeing, there is a daily time limit of 60 minutes per player. In other words, each player can earn competition points for up to 60 minutes between 7.30am and 7.30pm. Once the player goes beyond 60 minutes of play on a given day, they will still earn coins but will no longer earn points towards the competition.
In the spirit of the competition, please don’t play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesn’t cause high stress levels or impact on family plans. We suggest a limit of half an hour a day outside school hours – some will play more, some will play less.

Last night was our Parent Online Safety meeting where we had discussions about what apps, games, websites and devices our children are using at home and how we can keep them safe. If you couldn't make it, we have uploaded the PowerPoint here. Please have a look and email the office with any questions you might have about it and I will try and answer the best I can with any advice.

On our online safety page, we have uploaded a helpful guide that can support you with setting up parental controls to provide your child with a safer online environment.
Parental controls can help to protect your child from seeing something that they shouldn’t - although it is important to emphasise that no system is effective all of the time so it is important to engage with your child and talk to them about their online life regularly.
There is an extremely disturbing video currently being circulated on TikTok and Instagram.
The video can reportedly be hidden in other content (posing as “Cute cats” etc) so our current advice is to warn parents and carers not to allow use of these apps until the harmful content has been removed.
TikTok are actively working to resolve this.
